cljam is a company that develops Open Source products, which means that we usually develop more than one product with a different subject and in some cases the products don't "know" each other (they have no relation to each other).

Given our characteristics, we have structured our Slack channels as follows:

Thread 🧵

The vast majority of companies have problems with communication, i.e. information gets lost, doesn't get to where it needs to go, people who need to be involved aren't, etc.

We use Discord's thread feature to organize discussions by topic in the channels, with the aim of our “future self” needing the information exchanged within Discord and being able to go back to the thread containing the information.

It's very common for us to have the habit of writing “drunken” chat in text communication tools (WhatsApp group chats and N parallel conversations), when we're on the subject we can minimally follow, now if you try to go back to the conversation after a few days you probably won't be able to understand much, or it will take you a long time to understand (investing time to understand why a topic was discussed is even worse).
